Alaska State Hockey Association President Darrell Thompson penned an encouraging letter recently regarding the upcoming season for Alaska youth hockey. Mixed in with sentiments of our beautiful summers and wishes of returning hockey – the letter provides some important information regarding mitigation plans for the 2020-2021 season and beyond.

Both your Fairbanks Arctic Lions and Alaska Grizzlies Board of Directors and additional support staff have been hard at work identifying key concerns for players and parents regarding the upcoming season, and laying the groundwork for the mitigation plan that will be put in place for the safety of all those involved with all of the FairbanksHockey.org family. You can read the full letter below. Important links for Early Return On-Ice Activities, USA Hockey Safety Updates, and Facemask Guidelines are detailed as well as our organization contact after the letter.

Our team continues to monitor the availability of ice and safety requirement for return to play. Player and coach safety is extremely critical and we are committed to following all local, state and federal guidelines. As information becomes available we are dedicated to pass that info along to our youth athletes and their families so together we can make informed decisions about returning to the game we love safely.
